Girls In Engineering: After school program Getting ready for the 2014 MATE ROV Competition
Exploring the Great Lakes:
Shipwrecks, Sinkholes, and Conservation in the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary TBNMS.
NEED The TBNMS staff and the scientists and conservationists who work within the sanctuary boundaries are in need of remotely operated vehicles that can 1) explore, document, and identify an unknown shipwreck recently discovered in sanctuary waters; 2) collect microbial samples and measure the conductivity of the groundwater emerging from a sinkhole; and 3) remove trash and debris from the shipwreck and surrounding area.

2014 The Mid-Atlantic Competition
The Results:
Granby High School's Girls In Engineering" Team took second place in the Mid-Atlantic MATE ROV competition.
The team was recognized with the "Best in Engineering Evaluation Award" and has qualified to attend the 13th Annual Mate International Competition on June 26 - 28 at the Thunder Bay Nation Marine Sanctuary in Alpens MI.
This is the first team from Norfolk to make it to the International level.

The Girls In Engineering team was one of 30 teams that qualified out of 550 teams that competed in the Regional competitions across 13 countries.
The International Competition was held in Alpena, MI along the cost of Thunder Bay in Lake Huron.

The girls placed 27th in the competition. Again the Granby Girls In Engineering were the only all girl team at the international completion.
