Granby's Girls In Engineering meet ODU's Society Of Women Engineers
This year we are developing a partnership with Old Dominion University's Society of Women Engineers. The above picture is from a “Meet and Greet lunch”, Oct 4, 2017. We invited members of the Old Dominion SWE and some of their engineering professor for a light lunch catered by our second year Culinary Arts class. |
Location
October 21, 2017, Girl Scout STEAM Day at Nauticus, Norfolk, VA. The Girl's presented their ROV from last year's competition and their basic design of the new 2018 ROV for this year.
During the event, the Girls In Engineering assisted the Girl Scouts in building and testing a ROV.
November 11, 2017 Barnes - Noble Maker Faire. The team presented and demonstrated their 2017 ROV to the customer and talked about the design change for this coming year's competition.
November 17, 2017, Granby High School's Grils In Engineering Lunch & Learn. At the annual event, the young ladies present what they accomplished over the last year and were they are headed this year. It is also an opportunity to say thank you to our community supporters. Presentation are given by our ROV Team and students from our girl’s engineering class.
Supporter form industry; Naval Shipyard, Port Alliance Credit Union. Area colleges; Old Dominion University faculty, Engineering students and Society of Women Engineers, Tidewater Community Collage Faculty and Staff.
After the presentation the Students and visitors had time to visit and enjoy a fine lunch prepared by Granby's Culinary Art II Class.
January 26, STEAM Day at Granby Elenentry School.
The girls take time to show one of their ROV's and explain how it works to the young students. Many of the students enjoy operating the controls of the robot.
